ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m MIMI! Or Ms. Emily
The heart behind Mimi's Skoolhouse.
My journey into early childhood education began in a deeply personal way. About two years ago, my son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In that season, I made the life-changing decision to step away from my corporate career as a paralegal, withdraw him from daycare, and begin homeschooling him—while also opening my home to care for other children.
What started as a step of faith quickly became a calling.
As I poured into my son, I found myself diving deeper into early childhood development—learning, observing, and growing right alongside him. Through that process, something in me shifted. What began as a necessity became a passion, and that passion has continued to grow into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
I realized I didn’t just want to create a childcare space—I wanted to build something meaningful. Something intentional. Something I wish had existed for my own child.
A place that feels like home.
A place where children are truly known, loved, and nurtured.
A place where families feel connected, involved, and at peace knowing their child is in safe, caring hands.
When creating Mimi's Skoolhouse, my goal was to create more than just a daycare. I wanted my home to become a second home for every child who walks through the door—a place where they feel they belong, where their curiosity is celebrated, and where they are supported as capable, unique individuals.
I believe there is something sacred about childhood. That magic still exists in the small, everyday moments—in laughter, in discovery, in connection. I strive to protect and nurture that, offering love daily and approaching teaching not just as a responsibility, but as an honor.
This is more than a business to me—it’s a piece of my heart, shared with the families who trust me with theirs.
